Project Location: The Hossein Abad (H.A) region of South Khorasan Province has been selected as the project site. Due to its proximity to Afghanistan’s border the project site was previously partially occupied by Afghan refugees currently the area is at the state of heavy degradation. Some general information of the area is as follows: | Population : | 1760; (HH size 5.7) | | Villages : | 27 (some abandoned) with 164 families | | Occupation of local people | Pastoralists with limited farming | | Area : | 144,000 hectares | | Precipitation : | Average 165, (max. 343, mm. 117) | | Temperature : | max: 40.5 oC and min: -16 oC | | Access : | About 40 Km to the east of the nearest town, Sarbisheh. |
